Facebook is ever evolving, but the same principles apply.  Facebook is the place for your fans to engage with your business. (Here is how to hold a contest.)  But how Facebook pages engage with their fans vary.

We manage social media for clients from local franchises to small businesses. The Facebook strategy for how these clients engage with their faces is very different than large brands and national businesses that are trying to reach the entire country.

If you are a local Franchise owner or a small business, how do you compete with large brands and businesses?  How do you get your content to break through on your fans’ newsfeeds? Two words—GET LOCAL.  You need to tie your content and messaging into your company’s location.

Here are 7 tips on how to “GET LOCAL” on your Facebook page.

  1. Update your About section with a map of your location
  2. Create a photo album dedicated to pictures of your location.
  3. Like Facebook pages of local news organizations, local businesses, the Chamber or Commerce, etc.
  4. Share and comment on newsworthy stories and events in your area.
  5. Create quizzes or ask questions about the area your business is located.
  6. If you are a Franchise, tie nationwide content into your locale.
  7. Use a photo from your location for your Facebook cover.

Connecting and engaging with your community is important.  You become the local expert in your field and people will be more apt to turn to your business because you understand the needs of that area.
