5 Tips to Make Your Post to go Viral

In this day and age, it is important to adapt to the constantly shifting enhancements, trends and findings of Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Google+, Pinterest, Instagram, Foursquare, Yelp, Blogger and others.

The goal of social media is to be open and honest with followers while building brands, providing relevant information and encouraging people to try products and services. But the ultimate goal is getting posts to go viral, build followers, increase engagement and create a buzz.

But what makes a post go viral?  When creating your posts, keep these 5 tips in mind:

  1. Good Content – before you post anything, ask yourself if it is something that would interest you. Create content that tugs at your follower’s emotions by making them laugh and smile; people don’t like sharing sad content.
  2. Quality Visuals – pair an awesome picture with your posts; images grab people’s attention way more than text.
  3. Timing – make sure your posts are timely and post when your followers are online; especially on the weekends.  Also, your post should coincide with the latest industry-relevant news & events.
  4. Repost Your Content – you can double and even triple shares by reposting content after about 1 week.
  5. Get Influencers to Share Your Content – when 3 influential people share a post, social shares can double.

Creating a successful viral campaign is more difficult than it looks; it requires research and planning.  If you want to start a viral campaign but don’t know where to begin, send me an email at sdautel@twochicago.com.
